Netgear ReadyNAS Duo command line shut down utility

So I finished the backup app and compiled it for anyone who wants it- it’s used from the command prompt like so;
ShutdownNASBox -h <hostname> -u <username> -p <password>

eg.

ShutdownNASBox -h backup -u admin -p abc123

If you run the tool with administrator privileges, it will log to the Windows Event Log on the System tab.

You can download it here (note you will need dot net framework 4 installed)

    Exactly what I was looking for! Works perfectly – thank you very much indeed. I implemented it differently though, by adding it as a shutdown script in the group policy editor. Thanks again.

    Will this work with a ReadyNAS 3200 as well? I’ve got a Win Server 2003 setup with a Tripp Lite UPS and their Shutdown Agent, and I’d love to just add a command line to run this to gracefully shutdown our 3200 as well when the power goes out.

    Hi Ian,

    Not sure- only tested on the ReadyNAS Duo- give it a go! I would imagine the web UI’s for all these devices would have a common base- especially for basic system level stuff like shutting down.

    I just ran this from a command prompt in Vista, and it worked a charm shutting down a ReadyNAS NV+ (version 1).
    Now all I have to do is work out how to trigger it on a UPS shutdown event …

    Hi,
    Is it possible to contact me by e-mail?
    I want to do the same thing with a readynas duo v2 but don’t know how.

    The only thing I have is this when I select Shutdown button in the https interface:

    But don’t know how to do the rest.

    Anyway, great work!
